When using SARAL’s Discovery, you may notice that some influencers don’t appear in the search results, including larger creators and those with fewer than 5,000 followers.
This can happen for a few reasons related to how our discovery algorithm works and the availability of public creator data.
How SARAL’s Discovery Algorithm Works
SARAL’s Discovery tools rely on a data-driven algorithm to suggest relevant influencers. These systems work best when there is enough engagement and content data to analyze.
Why Some Influencers May Not Appear
Creators with fewer than 5,000 followers
Smaller creators may not always appear in Discovery because there may not be enough publicly available data for our algorithm to analyze and generate reliable recommendations.
Lookalike searches generally work best for creators with 20,000 or more followers, although they can also work for creators in the 5,000–10,000 follower range.
Limitations in publicly available Instagram data
In some cases, Instagram account settings or changes in data availability can limit the information our algorithm can access. For example, an influencer may have recently switched their account to private and then back to public, or they may have hidden their likes or comments.
When this happens, our algorithm may not have sufficient data to include that influencer in the Similar To search results, even if the account is otherwise eligible.
These cases are uncommon and should not occur frequently.
Why Some Larger Creators (100K+ Followers) May Not Appear
Even larger influencers may not always appear in Discovery results. This can happen when their posts lack the information our algorithm uses to categorize and identify relevant creators.
For example:
No hashtags: The creator doesn’t use hashtags in their posts, making it harder for the algorithm to categorize their content.
Missing captions: The creator frequently publishes posts without captions, limiting the information available for content analysis

If a specific creator isn’t showing up in Discovery, you can still add them manually:
